BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE MASJID TODAY, MAKE THESE FIVE DU’AS

Jumu’ah is not just a weekly gathering it is a day filled with blessings, mercy, and opportunities to draw closer to Allah. Many Muslims leave the masjid immediately after the prayer, rushing back to work, business, or personal commitments. While there is nothing wrong with returning to one’s responsibilities, it is worth pausing for a few moments before leaving the mosque to make sincere du’a.

The Prophet ﷺ informed us that Friday contains a special time during which Allah answers the supplications of His servants. This alone should encourage every believer to seize the day with heartfelt prayers.

Here are five essential du’as every Muslim should make before leaving the masjid today.

1. ASK ALLAH FOR FORGIVENESS

No matter how righteous we try to be, we all fall short. We make mistakes, knowingly and unknowingly. Seeking Allah’s forgiveness is one of the greatest acts of worship.

Allah says:

“And whoever does evil or wrongs himself but then seeks Allah’s forgiveness will find Allah Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
(Surah An-Nisa 4:110)

Take a moment and sincerely ask:

“O Allah, forgive all my sins those I know and those I do not know, the major and the minor, the public and the private.”

A forgiven servant is among the most successful people in this world and the next.

2. ASK FOR GUIDANCE AND STEADFASTNESS

Remaining steadfast upon Islam is one of the greatest blessings a believer can receive.

The Prophet ﷺ frequently supplicated:

“O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion.”
(Jami’ at-Tirmidhi)

In a world filled with distractions and temptations, every Muslim needs Allah’s guidance daily. Ask Him to keep your faith strong and your heart attached to His obedience.

3. MAKE DU’A FOR YOUR PARENTS

Whether your parents are alive or have passed away, they deserve your sincere prayers.

Allah teaches us in the Qur’an:

“My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.”
(Surah Al-Isra 17:24)

Pray for their health, forgiveness, provision, and elevation in rank. If they have returned to Allah, ask Him to illuminate their graves and admit them into Jannatul Firdaus.

One sincere du’a from a grateful child can continue benefiting a parent long after their death.

4. PRAY FOR THE ENTIRE UMMAH

Our concern should extend beyond ourselves.

Today, Muslims across the world face hardship, poverty, displacement, persecution, and conflict. Others struggle with illness, family challenges, financial burdens, or weakening faith.

Ask Allah to grant relief to the oppressed, heal the sick, strengthen the weak, forgive the deceased, unite the Ummah upon truth, and guide those who have strayed.

The angels say “Ameen” when a believer sincerely prays for others in their absence.

5. ASK FOR A GOOD ENDING

No one knows when their final day will come.

The greatest success is not merely living long, but dying upon faith and obedience to Allah.

Ask:

“O Allah, grant me Husnul Khatimah (a beautiful ending), make my last words ‘La ilaha illallah,’ forgive my sins, and admit me into Jannatul Firdaus without reckoning.”

This is a du’a every Muslim should make regularly, especially on the blessed day of Jumu’ah.

DON’T RUSH AWAY FROM BLESSINGS

It only takes a few minutes to raise your hands and speak to Allah with sincerity. Those moments may become the most valuable part of your entire week.

Before leaving the masjid today:

  • Sit quietly for a few moments.
  • Remember Allah.
  • Reflect on the khutbah.
  • Send abundant salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ.
  • Make these five du’as with humility and certainty that Allah hears every word.

Perhaps one sincere supplication made today will change your life, erase your sins, or become the means by which Allah grants you Paradise.

May Allah accept our Jumu’ah, forgive our shortcomings, answer our du’as, bless our families, protect the Ummah, and make us among His righteous servants. Ameen.
