The Lagos State Government has presented Certificates of Participation to all 1,600 pilgrims who successfully performed the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The certificates were presented in Makkah by Local Government Coordinators on behalf of the Amir-ul-Hajj and Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, in recognition of the pilgrims’ exemplary conduct, discipline, and cooperation throughout the pilgrimage.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Layode commended the pilgrims for representing Lagos State with dignity and distinction, describing them as “shining lights and worthy ambassadors” whose conduct serves as an example for others to follow.

He urged the pilgrims to sustain the values of patience, endurance, discipline, and resilience acquired during the Hajj, applying them to their daily lives, relationships, and future endeavours.

Meanwhile, the return airlift of Lagos pilgrims is progressing smoothly, with 1,032 pilgrims already transported back to Nigeria. The second and third batches arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Hon. Layode disclosed that the airlift operation is being carried out in line with the schedule of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), adding that the remaining pilgrims are expected to return on the fourth and fifth flights scheduled for Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13.

The Lagos State Government expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their support and cooperation in ensuring a successful Hajj operation for the state’s pilgrims.
