RAMADAN DAY 22: YOU MAY ALREADY BE IN LAYLATUL QADR ARE YOU READY?
By the time Ramadan reaches Day 22, the atmosphere of the month changes. The first twenty days have passed, and the final stretch has begun. These are the nights the believers wait for all year the nights in which one moment can change a lifetime.
One important reality many people forget is this: **Laylatul Qadr may already be happening.** The Night of Decree is hidden within the last ten nights of Ramadan, and it could fall on any of them.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
> “The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.”
> — Qur’an 97:3
This means that worship done during this night is better than worship performed for more than eighty-three years. It is an opportunity that cannot be measured by normal standards of time.
Why the Exact Night Is Hidden
The wisdom behind the hidden nature of Laylatul Qadr is powerful. If the exact night were known, many people would only worship intensely on that single night. Instead, Allah encourages believers to seek it throughout the last ten nights.
The Prophet ﷺ said that believers should search for Laylatul Qadr in the **last ten nights of Ramadan**, especially on the odd nights. This teaching is recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari.
Because of this, Day 22 becomes very important. It reminds us that the search has already begun, and every night now carries enormous value.
How the Prophet Prepared for These Nights
When the last ten nights began, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would increase his worship significantly. According to narrations, he would spend much of the night in prayer, wake his family for worship, and devote himself completely to seeking Allah’s mercy.
His example teaches us that these nights require **extra effort and focus**.
Even if someone was less consistent earlier in Ramadan, the final ten nights provide a chance to recover and finish strong.
Acts of Worship to Focus on Now
During these nights, believers should increase acts that bring them closer to Allah. These include:
* Performing night prayer (Qiyam or Tahajjud)
* Reciting and reflecting on the Qur’an
* Making sincere du’a
* Giving charity
* Seeking forgiveness frequently
One of the most recommended supplications for Laylatul Qadr was taught by the Prophet ﷺ to Aisha. The du’a is simple but powerful:
“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni.”
Meaning:
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”
Repeating this du’a with sincerity throughout these nights is highly encouraged.
Do Not Wait for the “Perfect Night”
Some people wait for signs before they increase their worship. They wait for a special feeling, a calm sky, or a spiritual moment.
But the truth is that Laylatul Qadr is often recognized **after it has passed.
The safest approach is to treat every remaining night as if it is Laylatul Qadr.
Pray with sincerity. Make du’a with hope. Seek forgiveness deeply.
Even a small act done sincerely on the right night can change a person’s destiny.
The Opportunity of Day 22
Day 22 reminds us that Ramadan is entering its most valuable phase. These nights are not ordinary nights. They are moments where Allah opens doors of mercy, forgiveness, and acceptance.
The believer who understands this does not slow down now. Instead, they increase their effort, hoping that one of these nights will become the night that transforms their record forever.
The search has begun. The opportunity is here.
May Allah allow us to witness Laylatul Qadr and accept our worship.
