RAMADAN DAY 21: HOW SMALL ACTS OF WORSHIP BRING MASSIVE REWARDS IN THE LAST TEN NIGHTS
As the final ten nights of Ramadan begin, Muslims enter the most spiritually rewarding period of the entire month. These nights carry blessings and opportunities that cannot be measured by ordinary standards. One of the most beautiful aspects of this time is that even the smallest acts of worship can bring enormous rewards.
Sometimes people think they must perform long prayers or extraordinary acts to benefit from the last ten nights. While increased worship is encouraged, Islam also teaches that simple and sincere actions can carry great value, especially when they are done purely for the sake of Allah.
The presence of Laylatul Qadr within these nights makes every act of worship even more powerful. Allah tells us in the Qur’an that this night is better than one thousand months. That means any act of worship performed on that night could be rewarded as if it was done continuously for more than eighty-three years.
This reality should motivate believers to never underestimate small deeds.
For example, making sincere dua is one of the simplest acts of worship. A few minutes spent asking Allah for forgiveness, guidance, and blessings can change a person’s life. The last ten nights are a powerful time to turn to Allah with humility and hope.
Reciting even a small portion of the Qur’an is also highly rewarding. The Qur’an was revealed during Ramadan, and reading it during these blessed nights strengthens a believer’s connection with Allah. Even a few verses read with reflection can bring immense spiritual benefit.
Another simple but powerful act is remembrance of Allah, known as dhikr. Saying phrases such as “SubhanAllah,” “Alhamdulillah,” and “Allahu Akbar” may take only seconds, yet they carry great reward. These words remind the heart of Allah’s greatness and keep the tongue busy with goodness.
Charity is another deed that becomes extremely valuable in these nights. Giving even a small amount to someone in need can be multiplied many times over if it coincides with Laylatul Qadr. What seems small in this world may become enormous in the sight of Allah.
Smiling at others, helping family members, or encouraging someone to pray are also acts of goodness that should not be ignored. Islam teaches that kindness and good character are forms of worship as well.
What matters most during the last ten nights is sincerity. A small act done with a pure heart can outweigh many actions done without true intention. Allah looks at the sincerity within the heart more than the size of the action itself.
These nights remind believers that the door of mercy is wide open. Every moment is an opportunity to earn reward, seek forgiveness, and draw closer to Allah.
As Ramadan begins to approach its end, Muslims should take advantage of every opportunity to do good, no matter how small it may seem. A simple prayer, a quiet moment of remembrance, or a sincere dua could become the deed that transforms a person’s destiny.
May Allah accept all our acts of worship and allow us to benefit from the blessings of these final nights. Ameen.
