YOUR RAMADAN WILL BE AS STRONG AS YOUR INTENTION TODAY
Ramadan does not truly begin with the announcement of the moon. It begins long before that in the quiet space of your heart where intentions are formed. The strength of your Ramadan will not depend on how busy you are, how emotional the khutbah is, or how long the Taraweeh prayer lasts. It will depend on one thing: your niyyah.
The Prophet ﷺ taught us that actions are judged by intentions. This principle is not small. It is foundational. It means that two people can fast the same number of hours, stand in the same prayer row, and give the same amount of charity yet their rewards can be worlds apart. Why? Because the heart behind the action is what gives it weight.
Intention is direction. It answers the question: Why am I doing this?
Are you fasting because it is routine? Because your family expects it? Because everyone around you is doing it? Or are you fasting because you want closeness to Allah, purification of your soul, and forgiveness for your sins?
Ramadan is not simply about abstaining from food and drink. It is a spiritual training ground. Hunger is only the outer layer. The real work happens internally in your patience, your self-control, your sincerity, and your discipline.
If your intention is shallow, your Ramadan experience will be shallow. But if your intention is sincere and focused, even small actions will carry enormous weight.
Make one clear intention today. Not a long list of goals that overwhelms you. One powerful intention that anchors everything else. Perhaps your intention is to fix your prayer completely. Perhaps it is to leave a specific sin behind. Perhaps it is to rebuild your relationship with the Qur’an. Perhaps it is to soften your heart and become more forgiving.
When the middle of Ramadan arrives and energy drops, your intention will remind you why you started. When distractions increase, your intention will bring you back to focus. When Shaytan tries to whisper that you are not doing enough, your intention will reassure you that sincerity matters more than performance.
Ramadan rewards sincerity over show. Allah looks at the heart before the action.
Take a few moments today to renew your niyyah consciously. Speak to Allah privately. Ask Him to accept your fasting, your prayer, your charity, and your efforts even the imperfect ones. Ask Him to make this Ramadan a turning point in your life, not just another month on the calendar.
A strong Ramadan is not built on motivation alone. It is built on a heart that knows exactly why it is worshipping.
And if this Ramadan awakens in you the desire to draw even closer to Allah through Hajj or Umrah, prepare that journey with the same sincerity.
