The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board is set to commence “medical screening and immunisation of all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise on Monday,” the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, announced on Saturday.

According to the statement, the Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, “announced the commencement date for the exercise while supervising activities at the Hajj Training Centre in Gwarzo Local Government Area.”

Dederi quoted the DG as saying, “The exercise will begin on Monday, 9th February 2026, and will take place at the Pilgrims Camp Clinic (Hajj Camp), Kano.”

Represented by the Director of Propagation, Education and Enlightenment, Alhaji Murtala Lawan Sani, the DG emphasised that “strict compliance with all rules and regulations of the Board would ensure a smooth and successful Hajj operation.”

He explained that the exercise “will include comprehensive medical screening, routine immunisation, and pregnancy tests for female pilgrims.”

On the Hajj Induction Course, the Director General urged pilgrims to “be attentive and dedicated to their instructors in order to properly understand how to perform the Hajj rites while in the Holy Land.”

He also advised that “intending pilgrims were also advised to strictly adhere to their flight schedules and remain within the groups assigned to their respective Local Government Areas.”

The monitoring team has carried out similar visits to Gwarzo and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas respectively.
