BLASPHEMY: MURIC CONDEMNS KILLING OF WOMAN IN NIGER STATE

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening in Kasuwan-Garba town, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, where a woman identified as Amaye was killed by a mob.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), a faith-based civil liberties organization, has strongly condemned the act, describing it as extrajudicial, barbaric, unIslamic, and an affront to the rule of law.

In a statement signed by its Founder and Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the group decried the mob action:

“A woman simply identified as Amaye, a food vendor, was killed in Kasuwan-Garba town after being accused of making blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) while speaking with a customer at her restaurant. The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, 30th August, 2025.

MURIC condemns this killing in the strongest terms. It is extrajudicial, barbaric, and unIslamic. The killers must be brought to justice.”

The group further urged the Niger State Police Command to act swiftly:

“We call on the police to immediately arrest, detain, and prosecute all those involved in this heinous act. There can be no respect for the rule of law if mob killings are allowed to go unpunished.”
