Agency Report
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has officially inaugurated the 2025 Amirul Hajj Committee, urging its members to place a strong focus on the welfare and comfort of the state’s pilgrims during their journey to Saudi Arabia.
The Governor delivered this charge during the inauguration ceremony held at the Government House in Gusau, as disclosed in a statement released Thursday by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.
According to the statement, the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Tambari, has been appointed as the Amirul Hajj and will serve as the committee’s Chairman.
Other prominent members of the committee include the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sulaiman Adamu Gummi, who will serve as Vice Chairman, and Alhaji Habibu Balarabe, Executive Secretary of the Zakat Board, who will act as Secretary.
Lawal stressed the importance of diligence and accountability in the committee’s assignment, urging members to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj operation.
“The Zamfara State government, on behalf of our people, has placed great confidence in you to ensure that every aspect of the 2025 Hajj operation is executed with excellence, dignity and sincerity,” he said.
He encouraged the committee to maintain strong collaboration with the Zamfara State Hajj Commission, relevant federal agencies, and Saudi partners to guarantee seamless coordination and effective problem-solving.
“You must embrace openness, accountability and compassion in all your dealings, knowing fully that the lives and spiritual journeys of hundreds of our citizens are in your care,” the governor added.
Lawal also pledged the state government’s support in fulfilling the committee’s mandate and requested periodic updates on their activities.
“We expect timely progress reports and, at the end of the exercise, a comprehensive report that captures achievements, challenges, and policy recommendations for future pilgrimages,” he stated.
The governor reminded committee members of the need to represent the state positively on the international stage.
“You are ambassadors of the government of Zamfara State and our culture, values, and religious integrity on the global stage. Therefore, I urge you to exemplify the virtues of humility, patience, discipline and devotion throughout the exercise. Let your conduct be a shining example for others to emulate,” he said.
