As Muslims in Nigeria and across the world begin the 2025 Ramadan fast, President Bola Tinubu has called on the faithful to embody the values of piety, humility, and selflessness that define the holy month.
In a statement on Friday, the President congratulated Muslims for witnessing another Ramadan, describing it as a time for spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and compassion.
He urged them to use the season to strengthen their faith, foster unity, and promote peace within their communities.
“Ramadan is a time for deep reflection, renewed devotion to Allah, and acts of compassion and generosity toward humanity. Let us use this period to strengthen our bonds with Allah and one another, fostering unity and peace in our communities,” Tinubu stated.
The President noted that this year’s Ramadan comes at a time of renewed hope and progress for the nation. He pointed to economic improvements under his administration, highlighting a rebound in GDP, a decline in food prices, and a stabilizing exchange rate.
“Our administration’s bold and transformative policies are beginning to yield positive results. The Gross Domestic Product for the last quarter of 2024 showed a marked improvement over the same period in 2023.
“The once-soaring prices of essential food items are now declining, providing much-needed relief to our fasting population and all Nigerians. The exchange rate is stabilizing, and fuel prices are going down, signaling a brighter future.”
With Ramadan coinciding with the approaching wet season, Tinubu reassured Nigerians of his government’s commitment to boosting agricultural productivity.
He outlined plans for targeted input support, mechanization, and innovative farming initiatives to ensure food security and self-sufficiency.
“We remain steadfast in boosting agricultural productivity. Through targeted input support, mechanization, and innovative farming initiatives, we are determined to enhance food production and ensure food security for all Nigerians,” he affirmed.
In his Ramadan message, Tinubu called on all Nigerians, regardless of faith, to join in prayer and action for the nation’s continued progress. He emphasized the importance of peace, unity, and a shared commitment to national development.
“In this sacred month, I call on all Nigerians to join hands in prayer and action for our beloved country’s continued growth and development. Let us fervently seek Allah’s guidance and protection for our nation, and let our words and deeds reflect our shared commitment to peace, unity, and progress.”
Concluding his message, the President wished all Muslims a blessed and fulfilling Ramadan, praying for divine blessings, joy, and peace throughout the fasting period.
“May the blessings of this holy month illuminate our hearts and homes, and may we emerge from it as better individuals and a stronger nation. Ramadan Kareem!”
