SAUDI ARABIAN FOOTBAL FEDERATION ANNOUNCES 24/25 WOMEN’S LEAGUE KICK-OFF
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has announced that the 2024-2025 Saudi Women’s Premier League begins Friday, September 27, 2024.
According to reports, the new season will feature ten teams, namely Al Nassr, Al Ahli, Al Shabab, Al Qadisiyah, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, Eastern Flames, AlUla, Al Amal, and Al Taraji. The league will follow a home-and-away format over 90 matches across 18 rounds.
This season sees participation from over 200 players representing more than 20 nationalities, with clubs completing over 15 international transfer deals. This diversity is expected to enhance the competitive level and highlight the rapid growth of women’s football in the Kingdom.
President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser Al Misehal, expressed enthusiasm for the season’s launch, building on the successes of the previous two seasons.
Al Misehal emphasized the potential for this season to strengthen national teams at all levels.
Head of the Women’s Football Department, Aalia AlRasheed, acknowledged the league’s rapid achievements, made possible by strong support from the leadership and the Ministry of Sports. She noted that the league has attracted global talent, affirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing women’s football.
Last week, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation launched a marketing campaign encouraging fans to attend matches, support their teams, and witness top talent, underscoring the swift growth of women’s football in the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, statistics reveal significant growth, with approximately 77,000 players participating in school leagues, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to build a new sports legacy and expand investment in women’s sports.
