The Dunya (world) is a temporary place for Muslims and the Hereafter (Akhira) is the everlasting home we want to stay in forever in the highest rank of Jannah (Jannatul Firdaus).
This makes us to ask Allah for what we want in this world and Hereafter to have a fulfilled life enjoyed with the reward of obeying Allah in this Dunya filled with lot of tribulations and challenges.
Therefore, we are enjoined to always say this above Dua after every prescribed prayer as it was also encouraged out Noble Prophet (S.A.W)
It is not good enough to enjoy only in this world alone, but also enjoy in the Hereafter where we have been made to believe we spend the rest of our lives, a place filled with eternal bliss and rest.
The prayer is written below:
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbanaaa Aatinaa Fiddunyaa H’asanata Wa Fil Aakhirati H’asanata Wa Qinaa A’d’aaban Naar
“…Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of Fire.” (Sura al-Baqara, 2:201)
Although good in the permanent life of the hereafter is the aim of all Muslims, but good in this world is also necessary because man has been asked by his creator to take part in all activities of this world without breaking the rules and regulations, made by Him. So beseech Him for the good in both the worlds.
May Allah accept our prayers and make us among those that will make it to Jannah… Aamin
