THE BLACK STONE: HOW THE PROPHET  SOLVED A DANGEROUS DISPUTE

Imagine a disagreement becoming so serious that people are preparing for violence.

This was the situation in Makkah when the Quraysh were rebuilding the Kaabah.

The honour of placing the Black Stone back into position became a source of disagreement among the clans.

Each group wanted the honour.

For several days, the disagreement remained unresolved.

Then they agreed that Muhammad (SAW) would settle the matter.

Why?

Because they trusted him.

They knew him as Al–Amin—the trustworthy**.

The Prophet (SAW) could have chosen one group.

Instead, he created a solution that allowed the different clans to participate.

He placed the Black Stone on a cloth and instructed representatives of the clans to lift it together. Then, when it reached its position, he (SAW)placed it in its proper place.

A potentially dangerous conflict was resolved peacefully.

WHAT DOES THIS TEACH TODAY’S YOUTH?

Think before you react.**

When emotions become intense, reacting immediately can make matters worse.

Don’t always insist on getting your own way.

Sometimes compromise and cooperation can produce a better outcome.

Use your position to create peace.

If you are a class leader, group administrator or someone others listen to, don’t use your influence to create divisions.

Be someone people can trust.

The Prophet ﷺ had earned the trust of the people through years of honesty and good character.

IN YOUR DAILY LIFE

The next time you have an argument with a friend, sibling or classmate, stop and ask:

*”Am I trying to solve this problem, or am I just trying to prove that I am right?”*

That small question can change the way you handle disagreements.

HEART CHECK

The story of the Black Stone shows that wisdom is not always about having the loudest voice. Sometimes wisdom is finding a solution that brings people together. Be a peacemaker.
