WHY THE PROPHET (SAW) WAS KNOWN AS AL-AMIN
Before Prophet Muhammad (SAW) became the Messenger of Allah, the people of Makkah already knew him by a special name:
Al-Amin — the trustworthy.
This was not a title he gave himself.
It was a reputation he earned through his character.
People trusted him with their belongings.
They knew him to be truthful.
They knew he did not betray their trust.
This is one of the most important lessons for young Muslims today:
Your character is your reputation.
You can have thousands of followers online, but if people cannot trust you, what does that popularity really mean?
You can be intelligent, talented and successful, but if you constantly lie and betray people, those achievements cannot replace good character.
HOW CAN YOU BECOME TRUSTWORTHY?
Keep your promises.
If you say you will do something, try your best to do it.
Don’t spread people’s secrets.
If someone trusts you with private information, don’t turn it into gossip.
Return what belongs to others.
Whether it is money, a book, a phone or someone’s property, return it.
Be honest even when honesty is difficult.
Don’t lie simply because the truth may make you uncomfortable.
Be the same person in private and public.
Your character should not change depending on who is watching.
YOUR ONLINE LIFE MATTERS TOO
Being trustworthy applies to social media.
Don’t create fake stories.
Don’t spread information you haven’t checked.
Don’t share someone’s private pictures.
Don’t pretend to be someone you are not.
HEART CHECK
The people of Makkah called Muhammad (SAW)Al-Amin because his character made him trustworthy. Ask yourself: If people described me with one word, would “trustworthy” be one of them? Build a character that people can trust—and, more importantly, a character that pleases Allah.
