MAKKAH, SAUDI ARABIA In a deeply spiritual and historic event, the annual washing ceremony of the Holy Ka’bah took place this morning after Fajr prayers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

The sacred ritual was carried out on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz may Allah protect him  and was led by Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region.

Participating in the ceremony were His Excellency Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques, along with Eng. Ghazi Al-Shahrani, the CEO of the Authority, and a number of esteemed dignitaries, scholars, and senior officials.

Before the ceremonial washing, the door of the Ka’bah was thoroughly cleaned, marking the beginning of a revered tradition that dates back centuries. The interior of the Ka’bah was then cleansed using Zamzam water mixed with rosewater, oud, and other natural perfumes  a practice symbolizing purification and reverence for the holiest site in Islam.
