HAJJ 2025: TRAVEL GUIDE AND THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW AS YOU PREPARE FOR PILGRIMAGE (EPISODE 6)

By: Ajape Sefiu A., Adedeji Monsurat A.

Alhamdulillah, we have finally arrived at the final episode of our Hajj travel guide series.

Over the past episodes, we’ve journeyed together through the spiritual, physical, and logistical preparation necessary for Hajj — from setting your Niyyah, planning your trip, traveling, and performing the sacred rites.

Now, as we conclude, this episode will focus on important final advice, common mistakes to avoid, and a heartfelt farewell message to all intending pilgrims.

Final Important Advice Before Your Hajj Journey:

Stay Patient and Calm; Hajj is a journey of patience and endurance.
Crowds, heat, delays, misunderstandings — all of these are part of the test.

Remember the words of Allah:

“Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:153)

Prioritize Your Ibadaah (Worship)

  • Focus on prayers, duas, Qur’an recitation, dhikr, and reflecting on Allah’s blessings.
  • This trip might be once in a lifetime — make every moment count.
  • Stay Connected to Your Group
  • Always stay close to your group, listen to your coordinators, and be easily reachable.
  • Be Compassionate and Helpful
  • Assist fellow pilgrims where you can — offering a smile, a hand, or a comforting word is highly rewarded.
  • Take Care of Your Health
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Protect yourself from the sun.
  • Rest when needed.
  • Wear comfortable footwear.

Common Mistakes Pilgrims Should Avoid:

  1. Neglecting the Intentions: Performing rites without mindfulness or understanding can lead to missing the true spirit of Hajj.
  2. Argumentation and Anger: Quarreling during Hajj invalidates the beauty and reward of the pilgrimage. Control your tongue and your temper.
  3. Not Following Ihram Rules: Avoid forbidden actions in the state of Ihram (e.g., cutting nails, using perfumes, harming others, etc.).
  4. Wasting Time: Spending excessive time on phone calls, social media, or idle talks.
  5. Getting Separated from the Group: Especially in Mina, Arafat, and during the stoning of the Jamarat, it is dangerous to wander off alone.
  6. Overexertion: Know your body limits. You are not in a competition. Worship sincerely but wisely.

Farewell Message

As you prepare to embark on this life-changing journey, remember:

  • You are answering the call of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and fulfilling one of the greatest pillars of Islam.
  • Millions have longed for this opportunity. Be grateful, be humble, and keep your heart open to Allah’s mercy.
  • Make dua for yourself, your family, your friends, the Muslim Ummah, and even those who could not make it to Hajj this year.
  • Carry yourself with dignity, patience, and gratitude — for every step, every tear, every hardship, and every prayer is being recorded and rewarded by Allah (SWT).

We pray that Allah grants you Hajj Mabroor, forgives your sins, accepts your duas, and allows you to return home as pure as the day you were born.
Ameen ya Rabb!
