IMPORTANCE OF FASTING IN ISLAM

By: Adedeji Monsurat Adenike

Fasting in Islam is a deeply significant practice that offers both spiritual and practical benefits to Muslims.

Beyond its religious significance, fasting serves as a means of spiritual purification and renewal, allowing individuals to redirect their focus toward prayer, reflection, and gratitude.

Through abstaining from food, drink, and other worldly pleasures, Muslims cultivate self-discipline and strengthen their connection with Allah, demonstrating their submission to His will and seeking forgiveness for their sins.

This act of worship not only deepens one’s faith but also fosters empathy and compassion for the less fortunate, encouraging acts of charity and solidarity within the community.
