WHEN YOU WAKE UP, REMEMBER THE ONE WHO GAVE YOU LIFE
Every morning is another opportunity to live, worship Allah, correct our mistakes, and do something meaningful with our lives. Yet, in the rush to prepare for work, school, or our daily responsibilities, we sometimes forget the greatest blessing of all: the gift of life.
Waking up is not something we should take for granted. While we were asleep, we had no control over ourselves. Allah, in His mercy, allowed us to wake up and continue our journey.
BEGIN YOUR DAY WITH GRATITUDE
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us a beautiful supplication to recite upon waking:
*الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ*
Transliteration: Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba’da ma amatana wa ilayhin-nushur.
Meaning: All praise belongs to Allah, who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.
Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6312.
This supplication reminds us that our lives belong to Allah and that we will ultimately return to Him.
MAKE YOUR MORNING COUNT
Beginning your day with gratitude should inspire you to use your time wisely. Pray Fajr, remember Allah, treat your family kindly, and approach your responsibilities with honesty.
You do not need to accomplish something extraordinary every morning. Even small acts of worship and kindness can make your day meaningful.
Allah says:
“And He it is Who has made the night and the day in succession, for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude.”
Qur’an 25:62
Every new morning gives us another chance to remember Allah and show gratitude for His blessings.
DO NOT WASTE THE GIFT OF ANOTHER DAY
Some people woke up today wishing for another chance, but their lives ended before that opportunity came. This should remind us to appreciate the time we have without living in constant fear.
If you have neglected your prayers, start correcting yourself. If you have hurt someone, seek forgiveness. If you have been distant from Allah, take a step back towards Him.
Do not wait for a special occasion to improve yourself.
A REMINDER FOR TODAY
Before reaching for your phone tomorrow morning, remember Allah. Thank Him for another day, perform your prayers, and make a sincere intention to use your time in a way that pleases Him.
*You may not know what today holds, but you can choose to begin it with gratitude, faith, and good intentions.*
May Allah allow us to live meaningful lives, make good use of our time, and remain grateful for His blessings. Ameen.
