Not every sin looks frightening when it first appears.
Sometimes sin looks like fun.
Sometimes it looks like love.
Sometimes it looks like freedom.
Sometimes it looks like popularity.
And sometimes it looks completely normal because everyone around you is doing it.
Allah warns us: “O believers! Do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Whoever follows the footsteps of Satan, then surely he commands immorality and wickedness. ”Qur’an 24:21l
SIN CAN BEGIN WITH A SMALL STEP
Shaytan does not always try to push a person into a major sin immediately.
It can begin with something small.
One message.
One inappropriate video.
One secret conversation.
One friendship.
One “just this once.”
Then another step follows.
Eventually, something you once considered wrong can start feeling normal.
That is why Allah says “do not follow the footsteps of Satan.”
“EVERYONE IS DOING IT”
This is one of the biggest pressures young people face.
Your friends are doing it.
People online are doing it.
People at school are doing it.
People you admire are doing it.
So you may begin thinking:
“Maybe it isn’t really that bad.”
But something does not become right simply because it is popular.
A Muslim’s standard is not what everyone else is doing.
Our standard is what Allah has commanded.
PROTECT YOUR HEART
Be careful about what you repeatedly watch, listen to and follow.
What you constantly expose yourself to can gradually influence what you consider normal.
Choose friends who remind you of Allah.
Follow content that benefits your iman.
Leave conversations that are taking you towards sin.
And when something is clearly wrong, don’t wait until it becomes a habit before walking away.
YOU CAN ALWAYS RETURN TO ALLAH
If you have already fallen into a sin, don’t allow Shaytan to convince you that you are hopeless.
Turn back to Allah.
Make sincere tawbah.
Leave the sinful behaviour.
And keep trying.
HEART CHECK
Your mistakes do not mean you should stop seeking Allah. Don’t let Shaytan make sin beautiful and obedience boring.
Choose what brings you closer to Allah—even when the crowd is going in another direction.
