WHY GOOD FRIENDS ARE ONE OF ALLAH’S BLESSINGS
Some blessings arrive as money.
Some arrive as opportunities.
Some arrive as good health.
And sometimes, a blessing arrives as the right person at the right time.
A good friend can be one of Allah’s greatest gifts.
A GOOD FRIEND DOES MORE THAN MAKE YOU LAUGH
Of course, friendship should include happiness and fun.
But a good friend does more than entertain you.
They care about your character.
They remind you when you are wrong.
They encourage you when life becomes difficult.
They remind you to pray.
They don’t pressure you to prove yourself through sin.
They celebrate your success without becoming jealous.
And when you forget Allah, they help you remember Him.
GOOD FRIENDS HELP YOU GROW
The Prophet ﷺ gave an example of good and bad companionship, comparing a good companion to a seller of perfume and a bad companion to a blacksmith.
A good companion can benefit you even when you are not actively thinking about it. Their character influences yours, their habits influence yours.
Their priorities can influence yours.
That is why choosing good company matters.
BE THE FRIEND YOU WANT TO HAVE
It is easy to ask: “Where are my good friends?”
But also ask: “Am I a good friend?”
Do you keep people’s secrets?
Do you advise them gently?
Do you celebrate their achievements?
Do you check on them when they are struggling?
Do you encourage them towards Allah?
Do you correct them without humiliating them?
Sometimes the best way to find good friendships is to become the kind of friend you are praying for.
Good friendship is not about finding perfect people.
It is about finding people who sincerely want to become better—and helping each other along the way.
HEART CHECK
If your friends described the effect you have on their lives, would they say you bring them closer to Allah?
