As a young person, you will have desires.
You may desire love, money, attention, relationships, popularity, pleasure and success.
Having desires is part of being human.
The danger begins when your desires become your master
When you start saying:
“I know it’s haram, but I want it.”
“Everyone does it.”
“I can’t control myself.”
“I’ll repent later.”
Allah warns us about following desires without guidance.
He says: Have you seen the one who takes their own desires as their god? Allah knowingly lets them go astray, seals their hearing and heart, and covers their sight. Who then can guide them after Allah? Will you not then be mindful? Qur’an 45:23
NOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT IS GOOD FOR YOU
Your heart can want something that will damage you.
You may want a relationship that takes you away from Allah.
You may want money through a haram means.
You may want revenge.
You may want attention so badly that you compromise your modesty.
You may want to fit in so badly that you follow your friends into sin.
But being able to do something doesn’t mean you should do it.
SELF-CONTROL IS A FORM OF STRENGTH
The strongest person isn’t the one who gets everything they want.
Sometimes strength is saying:
No. Allah has forbidden this.
Even when nobody is watching.
Even when your friends are doing it.
Even when you could get away with it.
Even when your desire is strong.
That’s where taqwa becomes real.
DON’T LET TEMPORARY DESIRES DESTROY YOUR FUTURE
A few minutes of pleasure are not worth damaging your relationship with Allah.
A few likes are not worth compromising your modesty.
A temporary relationship is not worth losing your boundaries.
Quick money is not worth sacrificing your principles. Your desires will tell you what you want now
Your faith reminds you to think about what comes after
HEART CHECK
Before following a desire, ask: “Will this bring me closer to Allah or further away from Him?”
You don’t have to obey every feeling that enters your heart.
You are a servant of Allah—not a servant of your desires.
