You can have beautiful clothes.
You can smell amazing.
You can look perfectly neat.
But in Islam, cleanliness is not only about looking good.
It is also about Taharah—purification.
Taharah is an important part of a Muslim’s life because acts of worship such as Salah require certain forms of purification.
WUDU IS MORE THAN WASHING YOUR FACE
Many young Muslims think of Wudu as something they quickly do before Salah.
But Wudu is an act of worship.
You wash your hands, rinse your mouth and nose, wash your face, arms, wipe your head and wash your feet according to the prescribed method.
It prepares you physically and spiritually for Salah.
WHAT ABOUT GHUSL?
Sometimes ordinary Wudu is not enough.
There are situations in which Ghusl (ritual bath) becomes obligatory, such as after certain states of major ritual impurity.
This is particularly important for young Muslims as they go through puberty.
Learning these matters isn’t something to be embarrassed about.
It is Fiqh.
Understanding your body and knowing how Islam teaches you to maintain your purity is part of learning your religion.
CLEANLINESS AND YOUR DAILY LIFE
Islam also encourages cleanliness beyond ritual purification.
Keep your body clean.
Keep your clothes clean.
Take care of your teeth.
Keep your environment clean.
Don’t allow yourself to become careless about personal hygiene.
A Muslim should care about both their outward cleanliness and their inward character.
BUT TAHARA IS NOT ONLY ABOUT WATER
You can wash your body every day and still need to purify your heart.
You can wear clean clothes and still carry hatred.
You can smell good and still hurt people with your words.
Islam teaches us to care about both.
Clean body. Clean clothes. Clean environment. Clean heart.
DEAR YOUNG MUSLIM…
Don’t think that Fiqh is only for scholars or older people.
You need Fiqh when you wake up.
You need it when you make Wudu.
You need it when you pray.
You need it when you fast.
You need it when you grow into adulthood.
HEART CHECK
The earlier you learn, the more confidently you can practise your Deen. So don’t be embarrassed to learn about Taharah.
Knowing how to purify yourself is part of knowing how to worship Allah correctly.
