PROPHETIC WARNINGS AND ADVICE TO EVERY YOUNG MUSLIM
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) gave special attention to the youth because they are the future of the Ummah. Many hadiths are directly addressed to young people.
Firstly, Core Advice from the Prophet (SAW) to Youth
1. Guard your 5 before 5*
“Take benefit of 5 before 5: Your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before your busyness, and your life before your death.”
2. Be from the 7 under Allah’s shade
“7 people will be shaded by Allah on the Day when there is no shade except His… a young person who grew up in the worship of Allah”
3. Hold fast to the Sunnah
“I have left among you 2 things, you will never go astray if you hold fast to them: The Book of Allah and my Sunnah”
SECONDLY, Prophetic Warnings for Young Muslim (Warning and Reason from Sunnah)
1. Wasting Time
Time is your capital. The Prophet (SAW) said most people are deceived about 2 blessings: health and free time 【Bukhari 6412】
2. Followig Desires & Distractions
“The Hellfire is surrounded by desires, and Paradise is surrounded by hardships” 【Muslim 2823】
3. Bad Company
“A person is upon the religion of his close friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends” 【Abu Dawood 4833】
4. Neglecting Prayer
The first thing we will be asked about on Qiyamah is prayer 【Tirmidhi 413】
5. Zina, Drugs, and Haram Income
“There will be people from my Ummah who will make lawful: zina, silk, alcohol, and musical instruments” 【Bukhari 5590】
6. Arrogance & Disrespect to Parents/Scholars
“He is not from us who does not have mercy on our young and does not respect our elders” 【Tirmidhi 1920】
Thirdly, 7 Practical Advices for Young Muslims Today
1. Anchor your day with Salah
Especially Fajr in congregation. It sets barakah for the whole day.
2. Learn Quran + 1 Hadith daily
Even 1 ayah + 1 hadith. Knowledge protects you from doubts and shubuhaat.
3. Lower the gaze + Guard the heart
In the age of social media, this is jihad. The Prophet (SAW) said the gaze is a poisoned arrow of shaytan.
4. Choose righteous friends
Your circle will either pull you to the masjid or away from it.
5. Be useful to your parents and community
Service = character. The Prophet (SAW) was helping others from a young age.
6. Seek halal and be skilled
“The best earning is what a man earns with his own hand”. Learn a skill, stay away from riba and haram jobs.
7. Remember Death and Akhirah often
“Frequently remember the destroyer of pleasures: death”
It keeps you from drowning in dunya.
Fourtly, Du’a of the Youth
The Prophet (SAW) made du’a for Ibn Abbas:
“O Allah, grant him understanding of the religion and teach him interpretation”
You can make that du’a for yourself.
