WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR WAY, RETURN TO ALLAH

Sometimes, you don’t even realise how far you’ve drifted.

You used to pray regularly, but now you struggle to keep up with your salah.

You used to read the Qur’an, but weeks can pass without opening it.

You used to make dhikr before sleeping, but now your phone is the last thing you touch at night.

You still call yourself a Muslim, but deep inside, you know something has changed.

Maybe you are not proud of the person you have become.

Maybe you feel guilty.

Maybe you have made mistakes you never thought you would make.

And perhaps you are wondering:

“How did I get this far away from Allah?”

If this sounds like you, there is something you need to know:

You can return.

LOSING YOUR WAY CAN HAPPEN SLOWLY

Most people don’t wake up one morning and decide, “I want to become distant from Allah.”

It usually happens little by little one missed salah becomes two.

One sin becomes a habit, one bad friendship becomes a lifestyle.

One excuse becomes a pattern, you become busy.

You become distracted.

You tell yourself, “I’ll get back to my deen soon.”

Then suddenly, months have passed.

Your heart doesn’t feel the same anymore.

The good news is that the journey back to Allah can also begin with small steps.

ALLAH HAS NOT CLOSED THE DOOR

Perhaps the biggest lie you can believe is that you have gone too far for Allah to accept you.

Maybe you think:

“I’ve sinned too much.”

“I’ve disappointed Allah too many times.”

“How can I ask Allah for forgiveness when I keep making the same mistakes?”

But Allah’s mercy is greater than your sins.

Allah says: “Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.”( Qur’an 39:53)

Look at the beauty of this message.

Allah doesn’t tell you to stay away because you have sinned.

He tells you not to despair of His mercy.

Your sins are a reason to return to Allah, not a reason to run away from Him.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BECOME PERFECT FIRST

Sometimes people think they need to fix everything before they can return to Allah.

They think:

“Let me stop all my sins first.”

“Let me become a better person first.”

“Then I will start praying properly.”

But you don’t have to become perfect before turning to Allah.

Turn to Allah while you are still struggling.

Pray while you are struggling.

Make dua while you are struggling.

Read Qur’an while you are struggling.

Make tawbah while you are struggling.

Your relationship with Allah is not a reward you receive after becoming perfect. It is part of what helps you become better.

START WITH ONE STEP

If you have been away from your deen for a long time, don’t overwhelm yourself.

Start with the next prayer not tomorrow’s prayer.

Not next week’s prayer, the next prayer.

When you hear the adhan, get up and pray.

Then, when the next salah comes, pray again.

Open the Qur’an and read even a few verses. Say Astaghfirullah sincerely.

Make a simple dua: “Ya Allah, bring my heart back to You.”

Sometimes a small sincere step can begin a huge transformation.

DON’T LET SHAME KEEP YOU AWAY

Feeling guilty after committing a sin can be a good thing if it pushes you towards repentance.

But don’t allow guilt to become hopelessness.

There is a difference between saying:

“I did something wrong, so I need to return to Allah.”

and saying:

“I am too bad for Allah to forgive me, the first leads you back to Allah, the second makes you run away from Him.

When you make a mistake, don’t spend your time convincing yourself that you are hopeless.

Make tawbah, learn from it and try again.

CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT

Sometimes returning to Allah requires changing what surrounds you.

Look at your friendships.

Look at what you watch.

Look at what you listen to.

Look at the accounts you follow.

Look at the places you spend your time.

Ask yourself: “Is my environment helping my faith or weakening it?”

You cannot expect your heart to grow while constantly feeding it things that damage it.

Choose people who remind you of Allah.

Follow content that benefits you.

Spend time in places that encourage good.

Make your environment support the person you are trying to become.

DON’T COMPARE YOUR JOURNEY

Maybe you see another Muslim who seems very strong in their deen.

They pray consistently.

They read Qur’an every day.

They dress modestly.

They attend Islamic classes.

And you look at yourself and feel like you are nowhere near where you should be.

Don’t allow comparison to discourage you.

Everyone has a different journey.

Focus on taking one step closer to Allah.

You don’t have to become someone else.

You simply need to become better than the version of yourself that was further away from Allah.

WHAT IF YOU FALL AGAIN?

You may return to Allah today and still fall into the same sin tomorrow.

Don’t give up repent again.

You may have to fight the same battle many times before you overcome it.

What matters is that you keep turning back.

The Prophet (SAW) taught that Allah is pleased with the repentance of His servant.

So don’t be embarrassed to knock on Allah’s door again.

Even if you have knocked many times before.

YOUR PAST DOES NOT HAVE TO DEFINE YOUR FUTURE

Maybe you wasted years, maybe you made decisions you regret.

Maybe you hurt people, maybe you committed sins you wish you could erase.

You cannot change yesterday but you can change what you do today.

Your past can become a lesson instead of a life sentence.

The person you were yesterday does not have to be the person you remain tomorrow.

COME BACK TO ALLAH

If you feel far from Allah today, don’t wait for a perfect moment.

Come back now.

Make wudu, pray, open the Qur’an and make tawbah.

Raise your hands and speak to Allah.

Tell Him about your struggles.

Tell Him about your fears.

Ask Him to strengthen your heart.

You may feel like you are the one trying to find your way back to Allah, but remember that Allah’s mercy is always greater than your despair.

You are not too far.

You are not too broken.

You are not too sinful.

Return to Allah.

And keep returning, every single time you lose your way.

Because the goal is not to live a life where you never fall.

The goal is to become someone who always finds their way back to Allah.
