COURT OF APPEAL FIXES JULY 3 FOR JUDGMENT IN UI–ISI HIJAB APPEAL

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Oyo State Chapter, wishes to notify members of the Muslim Ummah, parents and guardians of the affected Muslim students of the International School, University of Ibadan (ISI), stakeholders, members of the media, and the general public that the Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division, has fixed Friday, 3rd July, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. for the delivery of judgment in the appeals arising from the UI–ISI hijab case.

This follows the official notification received from the Honourable Court of Appeal informing all parties that judgment in the appeals concerning the use of the hijab by willing Muslim female students of the International School, University of Ibadan, will be delivered on the scheduled date.

The appeals concern the constitutional rights of Muslim students to freely practise their religion, including the wearing of the hijab in educational institutions, as guaranteed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The case has attracted widespread public interest and is regarded as a significant milestone in the protection of religious freedom and fundamental human rights in Nigeria.

MURIC, Oyo State Chapter, expresses its appreciation to Muslim parents, members of the Ummah, legal practitioners, civil society advocates, and all supporters who have remained patient, peaceful, and law-abiding throughout the judicial process. Their unwavering commitment to pursuing justice through lawful means is commendable.

We respectfully call on all concerned Muslim parents, members of the Ummah, and lovers of justice to be present at the Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division, on Friday, 3rd July, 2026, by 9:00 a.m. to witness the delivery of this important judgment. We also urge everyone in attendance to conduct themselves peacefully, maintain decorum, and continue to uphold the rule of law irrespective of the outcome of the case.
