DON’T STOP NOW: COMPLETE YOUR RAMADAN WITH 6 DAYS OF SHAWWAL
After the beautiful journey of Ramadan, Allah gives us another opportunity to stay connected through the six days of Shawwal.
The fast of Shawwal (often called Sitta Shawwal) refers to fasting any 6 days in the month of Shawwal after completing Ramadan. It is a highly recommended Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.
Why is it special?
The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with 6 days of Shawwal will be rewarded as if they fasted for an entire year. This is because:
- Ramadan = 30 days × 10 rewards = 300 days
- Shawwal (6 days) × 10 rewards = 60 days
➡️ Total = 360 days (a full year!)
When can you fast it?
- You can fast the 6 days anytime within Shawwal
- It does NOT have to be consecutive (you can spread them out)
- Many people choose Mondays & Thursdays for extra reward
Important reminder:
If you have missed fasts from Ramadan, it is best to make them up first before observing the Shawwal fasts.
The deeper meaning
Fasting Shawwal is a sign that:
- Your Ramadan was accepted
- You are striving to stay consistent in worship
- You are not “leaving Ramadan behind,” but carrying it forward
Let this be your reminder: Ramadan may be over, but your connection with Allah continues
