DAY 23 OF RAMADAN: ARE YOU TRULY SEEKING LAYLATUL QADR?
As the blessed month of Ramadan moves deeper into its final stretch, we arrive at Day 23
, one of the nights that could possibly hold the greatest blessing of all Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Power.
Allah describes this night in the Qur’an as **better than a thousand months. That means the worship performed on this single night is more valuable than worship carried out for over eighty-three years. It is a night when mercy descends, prayers are answered, sins are forgiven, and destinies are written.
But the important question every believer should ask themselves today is: Are we truly seeking Laylatul Qadr, or are we just hoping to stumble upon it?
Many people wait for a specific sign or a particular night, but the wisdom in Islam is different. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encouraged the believers to search for Laylatul Qadr during the last ten nights, especially the odd nights. This teaches us consistency in worship, not selective devotion.
Day 23 could be the night. It could also be a preparation for the night. Either way, the opportunity remains open for those who seek it sincerely.
These final nights are not meant for spiritual laziness. They are meant for renewed effort. A believer increases their acts of worship by praying more, making heartfelt dua, reciting the Qur’an, giving charity, and seeking forgiveness.
One of the most beautiful supplications the Prophet ﷺ taught for these nights is:
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”
Simple words, yet incredibly powerful when said with sincerity.
Laylatul Qadr is not only about long prayers or sleepless nights. It is about a heart that turns completely toward Allah. Even a small act done sincerely on this night can outweigh years of ordinary deeds.
As we reach Day 23 of Ramadan, it is important to pause and reflect. Have we been seeking Allah with full dedication? Have we used the nights wisely, or allowed distractions to take away these priceless moments?
Remember, Ramadan is quickly slipping away. The nights we are living now may never return to us again. This is the time to push ourselves a little more to pray when others sleep, to make dua with humility, and to reconnect with Allah in a deeper way.
No one knows which night will be Laylatul Qadr, but the believer who strives every night will never miss its reward.
May Allah allow us to witness Laylatul Qadr, accept our worship, forgive our sins, and write us among those who are saved this Ramadan.
