SPIRITUAL DIGEST: RAMADAN DAY 3 (A DUA FOR GOODNESS IN BOTH WORLDS)

On Day 3 of Ramadan, we reflect on one of the most comprehensive duas in the Qur’an Surah Al-Baqarah (2:201):

Arabic:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration:

Rabbana ātinā fid-dunyā ḥasanah, wa fil-ākhirati ḥasanah, wa qinā ‘adhāban-nār.

Translation:

“Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”

This verse teaches balance.

Islam encourages us to seek goodness in this life halal provision, peace, strong character, beneficial knowledge. But it also reminds us that the Hereafter is eternal.

Ramadan is a season of realignment.

As you fast today, make this dua part of your daily routine after salah, before iftar, and in your quiet moments with Allah.

May Allah grant us goodness in our dunya, success in our akhirah, and protection from the Fire. Ameen.
