HOW TO LOVE ALLAH MORE THAN THE WORLD
In a world filled with distractions, ambitions, and endless desires, it’s easy to lose sight of the One who gave us everything Allah. Our hearts often chase after temporary pleasures, wealth, success, or relationships, forgetting that true peace and fulfillment can only be found in the love of our Creator.
Loving Allah more than the world is not about rejecting life’s blessings, but about placing Allah above everything else. It means recognizing that every good thing we have family, health, wealth, and happiness comes from Him, and it is only through Him that our hearts can find true contentment.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LOVE ALLAH?
To love Allah means to submit fully to His will, to seek His pleasure in all actions, and to prefer His commandments over our desires. It’s not merely an emotion but a commitment a constant striving of the heart to stay connected to Him in every situation.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“And those who believe are stronger in love for Allah.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:165)
This verse reminds us that a believer’s love for Allah should surpass all other forms of love because His love is pure, eternal, and unconditional.
RECOGNIZE HIS BLESSINGS
The first step toward loving Allah more deeply is to reflect on His countless blessings. From the air we breathe to the food we eat, from the guidance of Islam to the mercy that surrounds us every aspect of our life is a sign of His love.
When you take a moment to ponder over His gifts, your heart naturally fills with gratitude. Gratitude leads to love, and love leads to obedience.
The more you recognize Allah’s favors, the more you realize that He deserves to be loved above all else.
KNOW ALLAH THROUGH HIS NAMES AND ATTRIBUTES
You cannot love someone you don’t know. To love Allah truly, you must know Him His mercy, His wisdom, His justice, His compassion. Each of His 99 Names is a window into His perfection.
When you know that Allah is Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful), you turn to Him in hope.
When you remember He is Al-Ghafur (The Forgiving), you repent without despair.
When you realize He is Al-Wadud (The Most Loving), your heart finds peace knowing His love is greater than any human affection.
The more you reflect on who Allah is, the more your heart becomes attached to Him.
PRIORITIZE HIM IN YOUR ACTIONS
Loving Allah means that His commands come before your desires. You may want to sleep, but you wake up for Fajr. You may be angry, but you choose to forgive for His sake. You may crave wealth, but you give in charity to please Him.
This is love in action choosing Allah even when it’s hard. Every act of worship, every act of restraint, every moment of patience is a declaration of love for Him.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children, and all mankind.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)
Loving the Prophet ﷺ is part of loving Allah, because he was the embodiment of divine love and mercy.
REMEMBER ALLAH CONSTANTLY
The heart that remembers Allah is a heart that stays alive. When you engage in dhikr the remembrance of Allah your heart becomes purified and your love deepens.
Reciting SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, and Allahu Akbar are not just words; they are ways to keep Allah close in your thoughts.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not is like the living and the dead.”
(Bukhari)
Keep Allah in your thoughts throughout the day while walking, driving, working, or resting. The more you remember Him, the stronger your love grows.
PREFER THE HEREAFTER OVER THE WORLD
The world is temporary a test, a brief stop before eternity. When you love Allah more than the world, you start viewing life differently. You stop chasing what fades and start investing in what lasts forever.
You give, forgive, and persevere not for worldly gain but for His pleasure. You remember that every hardship is temporary, every sacrifice is recorded, and every tear shed in His remembrance will be rewarded.
Allah promises:
“Say, indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.”
(Surah Al-An’am, 6:162)
CONCLUSION
To love Allah more than the world is to free your heart from dependence on what fades. It is to live a life centered on His remembrance, guided by His words, and shaped by His mercy.
The world will always try to pull you in different directions through temptations, distractions, and desires. But when your heart belongs to Allah, nothing can shake you. His love becomes your anchor, His mercy your comfort, and His presence your peace.
True love is not found in people or possessions. True love is found in the One who created love itself Allah.
