MUSLIM ECONOMIC SUMMIT TO EMPOWER YOUTH, WOMEN, AND BUSINESSES FOR A PROSPEROUS UMMAH

Preparations are in full swing for the maiden edition of the Muslim Economic Summit (MES 1.0) a landmark initiative aimed at empowering youths, women, and businesses through ethical finance, enterprise, and collaboration.
The summit, themed “Faith, Finance & the Future: Empowering Youths, Women & Businesses for a Prosperous Ummah,” will hold on January 17–18, 2026, at the University of Lagos DIL Main Auditorium.
Organised by the Muassasat Nasrul Ilm Wa Da’awat Foundation (MNIDF), the summit will bring together Islamic finance experts, entrepreneurs, scholars, and development partners to explore practical ways to grow the halal economy and build a financially strong Ummah.
According to Alhaji Ibraheem Olayinka Adigun, President of MNIDF and spokesperson for the organising committee,
“This summit is not just another conference — it is a movement for economic renewal. We want to equip our youth and women with the skills and partnerships they need to succeed ethically in business and life.”
Mr. Joko Okupe, CEO of Modo Ante Consulting, described the event as “a legacy platform that connects faith-based values with real economic innovation,” adding that it also offers sponsors a chance to support empowerment while building goodwill among ethical consumers.
In the build-up to the summit, over 1,000 youths and women are already taking part in a 6–8 week hybrid pre-summit training in digital marketing, urban farming, solar installation, and mini import/export is all aimed at helping them start sustainable, Shariah-compliant businesses. Certificates will be presented during the summit.
With over 2,000 participants expected on-site and thousands more online, MES 1.0 will serve as a hub for economic inclusion, ethical enterprise, and community growth.
