FIVE HUNDRED EDUCATORS BENEFITTED FROM 2025 AMIS OLUYOLE FREE WORKSHOP, EXHORTED TO BE ARCHITECTS OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT IN SCHOOLS

In preparation for 2025/2026 academic session, Association of Model Islamic Schools (AMIS) Oluyole Chapter in collaboration with Imam IbnulQayyim Islamic Foundation but sponsored by L. O. Foundation organised a scintillating Free Workshop on Wednesday, 3rd September, 2025 for five hundred (500) educators from over one hundred private Muslim schools in Ibadan.
The tantalizing workshop themed: “Academic Excellence: Teachers as Architects of Growth and Development in Schools” was held at Sablak Event Center, Sanyo-Soka Area, Ibadan.
The first guest speaker Coach Sanusi Yusuff Abiodun, Director/CEO, The-Crescent Counseling and Educational Consult Limited, Ibadan impressively discussed the workshop’s theme: “Academic Excellence: Teachers as Architects of Growth and Development in Schools”. During his exciting presentation, Coach Yusuf emphasized that a teacher is an architect of growth and development in schools as every lesson taught is a brick, every word of encouragement is the cement while every learner is a structure rising towards greatness. He explained that just as architects design buildings, teachers design future of the students. He enumerated core roles of teachers as being: instructor, mentor, motivator, role model, curriculum implementer, counsellor, innovator, evaluator, disciplinarian and nation builder. Other essential aspects of the presentation included: strategies teachers use to drive academic excellence, obstacles to academic excellence and remedies. Questions and answers followed immediately. It was indeed an impactful section.
The second guest speaker Ustadh Rasheed Adekunle Haashim, Director, Muflihun Schools, Ibadan as well as Director, Imam IbnulQayyim Islamic Foundation presented his paper on the topic: “Effective Curriculum Delivery for 21st Century Teachers”. In his lecture, he explained the proper understanding of the curriculum, its components, its types, roles of educators in shaping the curriculum, differences between the curriculum, syllabus and scheme of work, the concept of curriculum delivery, key aspects of curriculum delivery, pointers to teachers’ readiness for curriculum delivery, strategies of covering the curriculum, hindrances to curriculum delivery to mention but few.

The two presentations were thought-provoking, fascinating inspiring and problem solving. Educators present at the workshop were urged to be architects of growth and development in their various schools and pass lessons learned at the workshop to others.

Another interesting session of the 2025 workshop was brainstorming among the school proprietors alone on some vital issues relating to school business such as: security tips for schools, why Muslim parents patronize Christian schools: Way Forward, strategies to pass internal and external examinations, leveraging on technology in schools, strategies to retain teachers in schools, investing in teachers beyond salary among other vital issues. The brain storming session was indeed another big catch.
