MUSLIM CHARITY ORGANISATION DONATES FOOD AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO 5,000 FAMILIES IN BORNO

A leading Muslim humanitarian group, Al‑Khair Foundation, has distributed food items and medical supplies to more than 5,000 displaced families in Borno State as part of its annual Islamic charity outreach.

The event, held at an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Maiduguri, aimed to support families affected by insurgency and economic hardship during the current rainy season.

Relief materials, including rice, beans, cooking oil, blankets, and essential medicines, were handed out to beneficiaries, many of whom expressed gratitude for the assistance.

Sheikh Musa Ibrahim, the foundation’s director, explained that the initiative was inspired by the Qur’anic call to help the needy and strengthen community bonds.

“Charity is not only an act of worship but also a means to bring comfort to those who have lost almost everything. We want them to know they are not forgotten,” Ibrahim said.

QUR’AN AND HADITH REFERENCES ABOUT CHARITY

Qur’an (2:267):

“O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned and from that which We have produced for you from the earth. And do not aim toward the defective therefrom, spending [from that] while you would not take it [yourself] except with closed eyes.”

Qur’an (2:261):

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills.”

Hadith (Sahih Muslim):

“Charity does not decrease wealth. No one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor; and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises him.”

Local government officials commended the gesture, urging other organizations and individuals to emulate the act of compassion, especially as living costs continue to rise across the region.

The foundation announced plans to extend the outreach to neighboring states in the coming weeks.
