LAGOS STATE FIRST LADY URGES HUMILITY, DEVOTION AT LAILATUL- QADR PRAYER

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called on Muslims to embrace humility and unwavering devotion as the holy month of Ramadan nears its conclusion.

She made this appeal in a goodwill message delivered during the Lailatul-Qadr Eve Prayer, held on Thursday at the State House Mosque Complex in Ikeja.

Addressing the congregation, the First Lady underscored the significance of Lailatul-Qadr, known as the Night of Majesty, the holiest night in Islam. She urged Muslim faithful to seek divine mercy, forgiveness, and guidance, emphasizing that Ramadan is not only a period of spiritual reflection but also an opportunity to cultivate virtues such as kindness, patience, and humility.

“As we approach the final days of Ramadan, I encourage everyone to continue practicing acts of charity, reflect on the teachings of Islam, and offer prayers for the progress of our state and the well-being of its people,” she said.

The event also featured an insightful lecture by Sheikh Engr. Luqman Balogun of the Conference of Islamic Organisations (CIO), Lagos, who highlighted humility as a fundamental trait of a devout Muslim.

Sheikh Balogun explained that true humility lies in maintaining a modest and unassuming disposition while acknowledging one’s blessings with gratitude and compassion. He noted that embracing humility strengthens relationships, fosters personal growth, and builds resilience in the face of life’s challenges.

The solemn prayer session was attended by dignitaries, including the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, and the Body of Permanent Secretaries, who joined the First Family of Lagos State—Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his wife—in deep supplication and devotion.
