RAMADAN: EX-OSUN GOV, OYETOLA BUILDS MOSQUE IN MEMORY OF LATE MOTHER
The immediate former Osun state governor, Gboyega Oyetola on Friday, commissioned a memorial central mosque built in memory of her late mother, Mrs. Alhaji Wulemotu Arike Oyetola.
Oyetola also urged Muslims to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other political leaders and sought for divine guidance for the nation’s peace and development.
He described Ramadan as a period of peace and forgiveness saying, the holy month provides an opportunity for such prayers.
Speaking at the project commissioned by Chief Khamis Badmus in his home town, Iragbiji, where the worship center was built, Oyetola remarked that, ” it is important for me to build a central mosque in her memory. I thank Almighty Allah for the opportunity of commissioning this mosque today.
“It has been a dream come through, I have been on it for about 2 years now in memory of my mum.Why did I decide to build a mosque for my mum?. In 2006 my mum was installed as Iyalaje Adini of a central mosque and I asked her what she wanted me to do for her and she said, she wanted me to invite my friends to donate to the rehabilitation of the mosque.
“That 2006 I was able to donate N6.5 million and we used the entire money to rehabilitate the central mosque.
“So, I now thought about what she would have loved me to do if she were to be alive and I concluded that, it is important for me to build a central mosque in her memory.
“I thank Almighty God and Asiwaju Tunde Badmus for coming to commission the mosque. I also thank the royal fathers including my friends all over the country that came to grace the occasion and I thanks other people who also witnessed the event. “
Speaking on the ongoing Ramadan period, Oyetola said, Ramadan is a month of peace and a month of forgiveness and charged people to embrace peace with one another and love in harmony with themselves.
He said, “We should ensure that we keep peace with everybody and we should continue to pray for our leaders, the president, the governors, the ministers of the country, and everyone.
“We want everybody to live in peace and I believe that the blessing of Almighty Allah will come to us.”
In his own remark, Chief Khamis Badmus said, “It is not only during Ramadan that you have to support your Muslim brothers, the achievement of today is a remembrance.
“Don’t forget from the Hon. Minister’s speech, he decided to build this mosque based on what his mother told him that she doesn’t want anything for herself but what will be a legacy that she’ll inherit in heaven and she’s there now and this will be like a prayer for her.
“This is worth emulating by Muslims all over the world,” he submitted.
