ALLEGED FRAUD: EFCC RAIDS NAHCON, ARREST SPOKESPERSON, 3 OTHERS

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday raided the headquarters of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in Abuja amid allegations of fraud and fund misappropriation.

The operation, which began at 11 a.m., led to the detention of NAHCON’s spokesperson, Fatimah Usara, along with three other unidentified staff members.

It was gathered that the EFCC officials went with a valid arrest warrant, signaling the gravity of the situation.

This raid is part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged mismanagement of a N90 billion intervention fund earmarked for the 2024 Hajj.

Meanwhile, a source at the EFCC headquarters confirmed the development to our correspondent, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations against NAHCON.

The EFCC’s actions come on the heels of a previous raid by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) at the same commission, further intensifying scrutiny over NAHCON’s financial dealings.

When contacted, EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale declined to provide immediate comments but assured that further details regarding the arrests and the ongoing investigation would be made available in due course.
