Umrah is known as lesser pilgrimage and due to its religious significance and immense importance ,

millions of Muslims from all around the world visit the house of Allah to perform Umrah. The reward of Umrah is great and Allah removes all the sins of  a person who performs it without any flaw or with pure intention. While the Ramadan is the holiest month of Islamic calendar, when every little deed or action will multiply by seventy times. Just imagine the reward of performing Umrah in Ramadan when you are praying and asking for forgiveness to the Supreme Lord in His house and He showers His blessings upon you.

Umrah in Ramadan

The month of Ramadan, in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and norm. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah SWT propose for you comfort and does not contemplate for you grief and for you to complete the time and to exalt Allah for that which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. [2:185]

There are plenty of benefits of performing Umrah in Ramadan. The very first thing Muslim gets is bundle of virtues from Allah Almighty. If he endeavors one Fard obligation, then he will be awarded seventy times of the actual deed. So, you can imagine the reward of performing Sunnah, Nafil, Zikr or Tilawat at holy land during the holy month of Ramadan.  Performing Umrah during Ramadan brings spiritual and mental alleviation but it also brings great reward in terms of blessings and acceptance by Allah SWT. With above mention hadith and verse of Quran, we can crux the significance of Umrah and Ramadan. The significance of performing Umrah in Ramadan can be understood by the Hadith of beloved Prophet PBUH:

““Performing Umrah in Ramadan is like accompanying me on Hajj (in terms of reward)”. According to Ibn Abbas, once Prophet SAW inspects a woman from Madinah: “what stops you from embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage with us?” She replied: “We had two camels out of which my husband took one and the other was left for rest of us to ride on”. Prophet SAW told her: “When the month of Ramadan comes, go for Umrah because ‘Umrah in Ramadan is like accompanying me on Hajj”. Allah SWT shower countless blessings on one who performs it with pure intention and only for the sake of Allah, although Umrah in Ramadan is not mandatory but due to its uncountable blessings, no one wants to miss this spiritual opportunity to remove his sins or ask forgiveness to Allah. Prophet SAW said:

“This great reward is granted to whoever performs the ‘Umrah during the month of Ramadan, even if he/she returns instantly thereafter and does not prolong his/her stay in Makkah”.

Aside from the countless blessings a person keeps, its emphasis on worship and the vigor of remembering and asking forgiveness is truly revealed throughout the journey. It gives an incredible sight to see millions of Muslims from different regions who speak different languages and their cultures are totally different sit together to break fast as the guests of creator of the everything. The very first thing that comes to mind is altruism. What an amazing experience to break fast with people you never met before and who are totally different from you except that they are Muslims who will share iftaar together. It makes  the Muslim Ummah one nation and shows the harmony and brotherhood among Muslims. Prophet SAW said:

“If Ramadan arrives, perform Umrah because it is worth the Hajj”. This Hadith shows that if one is unable to perform hajj financially he/she can perform Umrah in Ramadan as it is equivalent to hajj.

Performing Umrah in Ramadan gives you an unforgettable experience which you cannot forget throughout your lifetime. Specially during the time of Taraweeh, when the angelic Masjid e Haram would be as bright and sparkling as during day time with massive amount of muslims equivalent to those present during Hajj. This mesmerizing moment stayed in one’s eyes and he/she will never forget this as he knows that everyone here is striving for the same journey to seek forgiveness and gathering the uncountable blessings of Allah. Performance of Umrah in Ramadan is difficult in terms that one is with fast and performing the rituals of umarh but according to your effort Allah SWT rewarded you with best.

Muslims from all around the world gather under one roof and this shows brotherhood and harmony among muslims to the whole world, so it necessary to keep things in mind that when you are there ,you are representing Islam instead of yourself ,no one knows you by your name, country or cast ,you are only Muslim there who is here to perform his religious duty. Make sure you are not committing any sin or act of prohibition in the holy mosque. Allah’s Messenger narrated that:

“ Whoever performs Umrah in Ramadan and plans to stay at the Holy Mosque during the whole month or its last ten nights, should guard himself against committing any constraint, because evil deeds are more desecrating in Makkah than in any other place, not to mention, during the month of Ramadan”.

“Whoever takes his family to stay at the Holy Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan, must take care that, do not fall into committing any forbidden act; otherwise, he may return with sins that exceed the reward he came to earn, due to his negligence towards his wife and children.

So serve your precious time in prayers and make lots of supplications for you and your love ones instead of wasting your time in forbidden acts.
