MORE ABOUT THE CHIEF IMAM OF LAGOS – SHEIKH ENGR. ABOU-NOLLA

The Chief Imam of Lagos, Sulaimon Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla was born in Surulere to the Abou-Nolla and Odunsi-Eshinlokun Royal families of Lagos on September 15, 1975.

In 1985, he graduated from Yewande Memorial Nursery and Primary School in Surulere, Lagos, and went on to Randle Avenue Primary School to complete his First School Leaving Certificate.

He then completed his secondary school education at St. Joseph Secondary School in Surulere, Lagos. He was admitted to the University of Technology, Bauchi, for his tertiary education, and later transferred to the University of Ilorin, where he received his bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical) in the year 2000.

In the same year, he enlisted in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in Lagos State, where he worked for the Apapa Local Government. He enrolled at Darul-Dawat-Wal-Irshad, Isolo for his Idadiyah Certificate (2003) and later completed his Thannawiyyah education in 2006, following which he went on a Holy Pilgrimage to Mecca and Madinah in 2006.

He joined Linkway Technologies Limited as a Telecommunication Engineer in 2007 and worked for the Nigerian Police Commands in Kano, Katsina, Kwara, and Zamfara States in different capacities as a Telecomm Engineer.

In 2009, he began working for the Lagos State Government as an Electrical Engineer serving on the Lagos State Street Lighting Projects in various capacities (Operation Light Up Lagos – an initiative of the His Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode).

Alhaji Sulaimon Abou-Nolla is a registered member of the Council for Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) (COREN).

He served as the Imam of Surulere’s Ike-Oluwa Mosque. Shamsideen Thomas Adisa Memorial Mosque, Old Secretariat, GRA, Ikeja, employed him as a Welfare Officer and a member of the Executive Committee. In order to further his education, he is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration at the University of Lagos and a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies at the National Open University of Nigeria.

He has travelled extensively, having visited Ghana and Saudi Arabia. As an Islamic Studies teacher, he is heavily active in Dawah activities and knowledge dissemination. He is a member of the Mosque’s Executive Committee and one of the Ustaz at the Ike-Oluwa Mosque Arabic School. Alhaji Sulaimon Abou-Nolla is happily married and blessed with children.
