Professor Hassan Abdulhamid Bukhari, a Saudi professor and one of the Imams conducting congregational prayers at Makkah’s Holy Ka’ba (masjid Al-Haram), made a visit to Borno Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.

Imam Bukhari, the Dean of the Faculty of Arabic Studies for Non-Natives at Ummul Qura University in Makkah, was in Maiduguri on the invitation of Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, the President of Al-ansar Foundation and the first person to establish a private university in Maiduguri.

During his encounter with Zulum, the holy Ka’aba imam expressed his admiration for Borno’s hospitality and centuries of Quranic knowledge. He mentioned that the state is well-known across the world for its many Quran reciters.

Dr. Dikwa said Professor Bukhari has taken a special interest in you, having followed your actions over the previous several years, and we are delighted to work with you and your government on the development that has taken place under your stewardship

Governor Zulum responded by stating that Borno has a long-standing connection with the Saudi government and people, notably the guardian of the two sacred mosques. He expressed gratitude for their presence. Indeed, the visit of one of the holy Mosque’s Imams, Masjid Alharam, to Maiduguri is pleasant to the whole Muslim community in the state,” Zulum remarked.

He also requested Saudi Arabia’s government’s assistance in the fields of Arabic and Islamic education. In an effort to restore peace in Borno state, he also solicited their assistance in combatting violent extremist ideology. Before migrating to Bornu, Kanuris were originally from Arab countries, according to the Governor.
